Mrs. Iowa Globe

by Todd on April 9, 2013

I had a session with Jamie last week, and right before I left to meet her I received another Pentax PZ-1 in the mail. This was convenient, as I needed to test the camera right away, so I could send it back if there were any problems. An additional convenience was that there was already […]

A friend was randomly passing through town today, so I went to lunch with her, took one snap there, then I went to West Liberty and walked around for awhile with the Contax combo. The film is Legacy Pro 100, shot at box speed and developed in Rodinal: 1:40, sixty seconds of slow inversion, then […]

Testing: Carl Zeiss Tessar 45/2.8

by Todd on March 15, 2013

It’s been several months since I received my Contax-mount Tessar 45/2.8 T* from an eBay auction, and I finally had a chance to finish a roll. The lens came to me attached to a Yashica FX-3 Super 2000. I don’t have much of a need for this camera, but I got a great deal, so […]

Contax G-lenses: 45mm f/2 & 90mm f/2.8

by Todd on December 31, 2012

I took the Contax G2 out for a quick drive today, to finish a roll of Portra 160 VC that I started just before Thanksgiving. I’ve posted shots from the 45 a few times, but I think this may be the first time I’ve posted anything from the 90. I don’t have time to scan […]

Ektachrome 64 tungsten, cross-processed

by Todd on November 20, 2012

I had this roll of tungsten-balanced slide film laying around, so I loaded it up. Decided to burn through it quickly and see what it would look like developed in C-41. As luck would have it, today was a good day for photography. If one defines good as dreary, drowsy. . .even somewhat creepy. Hmm…now […]

Velvia 50

by Todd on November 16, 2012

This roll of Fuji Velvia 50 was given to me by a guy who does some of my printing, and it’s been languishing in my Contax RX for a long time. I’ve never shot film this slow before, and I’ve been continuously frustrated by not having enough light. So mostly I shot random boring things […]

Contax G2, Arista EDU 400 film

by Todd on August 24, 2012

I’m starting to love the versatility and portability of the Contax G2 a lot. I’ve had only limited time to shoot lately, so it’s nice to have something small and easy to carry. I see a Zhou case in my future! I’m also really liking this inexpensive Arista film.

I finished off the last few frames of a roll that was in the G1 yesterday…

Contax G2 + 45/2 + Ektar

by Todd on June 26, 2012

I got my second G2 today, and I’m pretty happy with it. Too tired to go into details right now, but I may modify my G1/G2 comparison post, or even write a fuller review of the G2 when I’ve spent more time with it. For now, let’s just say the difference in the focus systems […]

Contax G1 portraits

by Todd on June 16, 2012

I did a family session last night. Digital, of course, because I am far from having enough confidence yet to do such a thing with film. But I brought along the G1 and took a few snaps with it. I’m still having reasonably good luck with the G1 autofocus (there were three misfocused frames on […]
