Contax G2 + 45/2 + Ektar

by Todd on June 26, 2012

I got my second G2 today, and I’m pretty happy with it. Too tired to go into details right now, but I may modify my G1/G2 comparison post, or even write a fuller review of the G2 when I’ve spent more time with it. For now, let’s just say the difference in the focus systems is night and day. This thing will focus dependably on a white wall. Just wanted to share a few shots from my first roll.

This is Ektar at box speed, I assume?

That’s right. So far I’ve never pushed or pulled with C-41, since I don’t process it myself. My local labs won’t do it, but I recently sent some stuff to Dwayne’s, and in the future I may try shooting color under or over.

Simply, wonderful images. Great lens, great film, great eye.

Great photos and so sharp!

Thanks, Eva. This lens is pretty incredible. I typically do a small amount of sharpening with my scans after I reduce them to web resolution, but for these it was unnecessary. In fact, they looked horrible if I applied sharpening. It’s also worth noting that the first shot was 1/6s shutter speed, and the last two were 1/15th and 1/20th. The ability to shoot with those speeds is definitely one of the things I love about stepping away from an SLR!
